The basic GaitMat II system uses a mat that is 12.7 ft. long. This mat consists of 4 sections, each 38" long.
GaitMat II systems are now also available with 5, 6, 7, or 8 sections for total lengths of 15.8 ft, 19.0 ft, 22.2 ft, or 25.3 ft respectively.
Regardless of total mat length, all GaitMat II systems sample the entire mat 200 times per second producing a temporal resolution of measurement of 5 msec.
Extended GaitMat II mat systems offer increased flexibility of use. For example, an 8 section mat system could be used as a single system with a total length of 25.3 ft. If there were a need for offsite collection of data, 4 of the sections could be taken offsite, leaving the other 4 sections back in the lab. Both sections would work normally as 4 section, basic GaitMat II systems. The GaitMat II software automatically adjusts to the number of sections connected to the system.
Extended GaitMat II mat systems use the same mat sections used by current GaitMat II systems. As a result, existing owners of GaitMat II systems can extend their mats by purchasing the additional sections desired, and an additional USB interface adapter.
